Table Tennis Ireland is governed by an elected Board of Directors who are:    


Joseph A. Hickey (Chair)


Joe's previous posts include Chairman of the Board of Directors from 2007 to 2011 and President from 2011 to 2015. In the 1980s, Joe served as Honorary Secretary of the Association, Chairman of the Senior International Selection Committee and Honorary Treasurer of the Leinster Branch. Joe is a former Senior International table tennis player and NPC.

At a professional level, he was the Founder (in 1984) and remains as Managing Director and majority shareholder of the Pearse Trust Group, which has offices in Ireland, the UK, the USA, Canada and New Zealand, with associated offices in other countries. His qualifications include Barrister at Law, a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the International Tax Planning Association and a Fellow of the Institute of Association Management.


Patricia Hunter (Finance Director)


Pat is a retired BP Business Development Manager, having held a variety of management roles in the Company, including Business Development Manager and N Ireland Retail Manager.  She was a self-employed Business Consultant following retirement, working with BP Oil initially and then Phoenix Gas, and now is fully retired.   She gained a BSc (First Class Honours) from the Open University while working with BP.  

Pat has been involved in table tennis administration since the mid 70’s, at local, county, provincial and national level, from Joint League Secretary in Tyrone, to Coaching Secretary of the ITTA. More recently, in 2011 Pat was elected on to the Board of the ITTA, firstly as Finance Director, and then as Chairman from March 2012 - 2016. She has also been a Director and Chair of the British Table Tennis Federation.

She has represented Ulster at Senior Inter Pro level, and N Ireland in Commonwealth Championships and is a former Irish Open Ladies Doubles’ Champion.


Rob Cowan (Director)


Rob Cowan has previously served on the Board of Table Tennis Ireland as HR Director, Chairman and Secretary (2015-2017). During the 80's, Rob played table tennis for Baldoyle Table Tennis Club, coached by the great Johnny Bridgeman. He also played for UCD while studying electronic engineering and then, 20 years later, he played for DCU while completing an MBA.

Along with his brother Chris, Rob ran the Dunshaughlin Junior Table Tennis club, for approximately ten years, with over forty boys and  girls playing twice a week and entering Leinster Branch, Table Tennis Ireland and community games competitions. Rob is a Level 2 qualified coach.

In his professional life, Rob is the Managing Director of a technology company based in Blanchardstown, Dublin. He is also the Chairman of a Rail Registry company based in Luxembourg.


Ken Strong (Director)


Ken Strong has been involved in almost all aspects of the sport as a devoted volunteer for more than 40 years at Branch level in Ulster and at national level in Table Tennis Ireland. After a spell as Chairman of the County Tyrone Association, he served as Ulster Branch Secretary (16 years), Chairman (5 years) and President (5 years). He served previously on the Board of Table Tennis Ireland as Chairman (6 years), Secretary (4 years) and International Director (4 years). In 2015, he was elected as President of the association on a 4 year term.

Ken has coached Irish Junior and Senior teams as National Senior Men’s Coach at World, European and 6 Nations Championships over a period of almost 20 years from 1981 to 2000 as well as Ulster and N. Ireland Teams. As a Level 3 Coach he led work on preparing the Level 2 coaching syllabus and the 2006 – 2009 Coaching Plan. As a player he gained County and Senior Interprovincial honours.

In his professional life Kenneth was a senior civil servant in the NI Civil Service prior to early retirement in 2003. He is a university graduate who specialized in Social, Community, Economic & Physical Regeneration.
