Kenneth C. Strong, Table Tennis Ireland President



Kenneth is the President of Table Tennis Ireland. He has been involved in almost all aspects of the sport as a devoted volunteer for more than 40 years at Branch level in Ulster and at national level in Table Tennis Ireland. After a spell as Chairman of the County Tyrone Association, he served as Ulster Branch Secretary (16 years), Chairman (5 years) and President (5 years).


He is a former Table Tennis Ireland Chairman in addition to chairing the former National Training & Selection and Performance Committees. He served as ITTA Secretary and International Director and on the Board and Senior Management Committee for many years before being appointed President. Kenneth has coached Irish Junior and Senior teams as National Senior Men’s Coach at World, European and 6 Nations Championships over a period of almost 20 years from 1981 to 2000 as well as Ulster and N. Ireland Teams. As a Level 3 Coach he led work on preparing the Level 2 coaching syllabus and the 2006 – 2009 Coaching Plan. As a player he gained County and Senior Interprovincial honours.


Kenneth is a former Deputy President of the British Olympic Table Tennis Federation. He has represented Ireland at several  International Table Tennis Federation and European Table Tennis Union meetings. He has also served as a Director of the NI Sports Forum and is currently a member of the Mary Peters Trust Awards Committee. On his local scene in Co. Tyrone he has been a member of various District Council advisory committees, including their Sport, Peace & Reconciliation and Twinning Committees.


In his professional life Kenneth was a senior civil servant in the NI Civil Service prior to early retirement in 2003. He is a university graduate who specialized in Social, Community, Economic & Physical Regeneration.
