Butterfly Junior Ranking Scheme Announced

The ITTA has today unveiled the new Butterfly Junior Ranking System and associated Junior Ranking Tournament Rules for the season 2010/11 following consultation with Branches, players and interested parties.

The new System will run on a pilot basis for the season and will be subject to amendment, as necessary, should unforeseen anomalies arise. It integrates the allocation of ranking points for both the Junior Performance and the STIGA Challenger Circuits of events setting out in detail its operation.

The associated Tournament Rules advise that all draws will be made 1 week in advance of each event and the latter publicized by the Wednesday of the week of weekend tournaments.  Trophies will be awarded for Season Champions in each age group and consolation events should be run. Venues must meet minimum standards regarding lighting, space versus the number of tables, parking and shower/changing facilities.
