ITTA - Proudly Supports Dublin as ECS 2010
26 November 2009

In 2010, Dublin will have the honour of being named European Capital of Sport 2010.
This award will be bestowed on the City by the internationally renowned European Capitals of Sport Association (ACES) and is in recognition of the efforts being made by the various sporting ,cultural and governing bodies in the City, which encourage and facilitate people of all ages and abilities to participate in sport and physical activity in Ireland's Capital.
This prestigious award is an opportunity to celebrate Dublin's achievements as a sporting capital and highlight the tremendous amount of work being carried out by the numerous departments, agencies, organisations, sporting bodies and dedicated individuals to enrich and support the lives of all people living in the City. It is envisaged that this award will afford all sporting organisations and bodies the opportunity to showcase their sport and to recognise the contributions of all participants in sport - whether as players, coaches, volunteers, administrators or supporting family and friends.
It is everybody's opportunity to share in the collective pride we all feel in our achievements at local, national and international level in terms of our sporting participation and success. And by raising awareness among those living and working in and visiting Dublin, we can encourage all people to get active and participate in sport at any level they desire.
The ITTA are proud to recognise and promote this prestigious award for our Capital, and will work closely with Dublin City Council throughout the year of 2010 and beyond. Through our various initiatives, such as Women In Sport, Junior Participation Series, Let’s Make a Racket, Coaching Courses and Schools Development Programme, we will promote the key objectives of recognising the contribution of individuals to our Sport, and also to encourage people at all ages to participate and become more physically active in our Capital.
Throughout 2010, the Dublin ECS 2010 Logo will appear on all ITTA promotional material, and as we progress through the year, you will recognise it as being synonymous with the ITTA motto of "A Sport for All and A Sport for Life !"
