IWA Players on verge of Paralympic Qualification…

As part of London 2012 qualification program a large party from IWA Table Tennis travelled to Lignano Italy this week for the Italian Open Paralympic Table Tennis Championship. Among the  group Kathleen Reynolds and Eimear Breathnach who represented their country in Bejing Paralympics 2008 and also Rena Mc Carron hoping to qualify for her first Paralympics. Leading the men is Mick Cunningham, Mick is well known around the country from playing in Leinster League and also Veteran events, also travelling is the very experienced Ronan Rooney  and Class 1 competitor Philip Quinlan hoping to build on his Silver medal in Hungary two weeks ago.

As most of these players are in trainings 4-6 times a week with 2 weekends a month full squad training there are one of the best prepared Irish TT Squad to represent their country. Also travelling with the squad are Assistant National Coaches Susan Murphy and Jack O Meara.
