Leinster GP Preview

One of Ireland's premier open table tennis events takes place this weekend at ALSAA, Dublin Airport.  Over 115 players will compete across a range of events on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th October.

In the Men's Open Singles, young Sam Hanley will be looking to build on his recent strong showing in winning the Irish Classification event in September.  Sam won't have it all his own way with many of Ireland's top players competing for the title including former national champion and last year's runner-up, John Murphy.  Other players who will fancy their chances include Paul McCreery, fresh from a gold medal winning performance at the UK Schools Games, Conor Nolan and Na Ning.

Rita Kacsandi will be looking to defend her Ladies Open Singles title at this year's event, and consolidate her position at top of the rankings.  Irish internationals Amanda Mogey and Claire Nelson are also likely to feature strongly but may not find the going too easy with young players like Sara Dolan, Ashley Givan, Rebecca Kenny and Sarah Timlin all taking part.

The various banded events and the U21 and veterans events will also feature top quality table tennis.  It is difficult to choose from a very strong list of contenders in these events but no doubt there are some great matches in store.  The banded events will take place on Saturday.  The Open Singles and other events will take place on Sunday.

The Leinster Grand Prix will feature the best of Irish table tennis and we encourage spectators to come along to ALSAA for what promises to be a thrilling weekend of sport.
