Murphy and Mogey favourites at Butterfly Irish Senior Nationals!
04 March 2011
The Butterfly Irish Senior Nationals take place this weekend at the ALSAA Centre, Dublin on this Saturday and Sunday.
The favourite in the Men’s Singles is Irish No. 1 John Murphy who is seeded to meet top junior Ashley Robinson in the final. However, others will have some say in the outcome with Paul Mc Creery, Ireland’s highest ranked player in the World Rankings, making a comeback after a layoff due to injury. Peter Graham, seeded at No. 3, will also be a contender for the honours if he hits top form as will Gavin Maguire. No. 4 seed Daryl Strong has withdrawn due to injury.
In the Women’s Singles event, the final is likely to be contested between top seeds, Amanda Mogey and Ashley Givan, ranked at Nos. 1 and 2 respectively. Givan recently beat Mogey in a provincial open tournament.
Play begins at 9.30 am on each day and includes wheelchair singles and doubles events as well as veterans.
