STIGA Munster Open: Further Information

04 November 2011

Munster Branch Update...

The STIGA Munster Open will be held in the INEC Killarney again this year.  Observations made at last year’s event have very much been taken on board.  The lighting problem from last year has been rectified and the Munster Open will be using the newly purchased Gerflor from the ITTA.

The Branch is hoping to run a charity table tennis event for parents, coaches and ex-players who haven’t played in a long time.  The winner of the event will be allowed donated the money raised to one of the chosen charities.  There will also be a trophy for best performing club with points being allocated to all junior ranking events and the club with the most points will win a perpetual trophy.

There have been some other changes in relation to the number of events being allowed, this has moved to five events and under 12s’s upwards will be allowed gain experience by entering the senior events.  A joint ITTA-Munster Branch fund raising race night is also being planned for after the finals on Saturday night open to all.

Entries are currently being accepted and the form is available on the ITTA website.  A special rate for apartments has been set up with the hotel and the promo code to use is “TENNIS”.  We look forward to seeing you all there on the day and please get your entries in as soon as you can.  We would encourage people to stay in the Gleneagle hotel as they have been kind enough to provide the venue.
