Table Tennis going strong in Co. Laois

With the national and provincial ranking tournaments, Starball (Snr), Schools league and community games success all completed for 2010/11 attention focused on the Laois Junior Ability League last month. Round 3 took place on Saturday 18th June in Ballyroan. (Full results listed below).

Overall 86 junior players have participated in the league to date with one round remaining. Thanks to support from the Irish Table Tennis Assocation and the Irish Sports Council through participation project funding there are over 100 children playing table tennis at local level throughout Co. Laois with many clocking up the miles to Dublin for Leinster Junior ranking and Stiga Challenger plus the national events in Dublin, Killarney, Castlebar and Ulster. The success of these young players has lead to huge interest in the game around the county with many schools and clubs organising exhibitions making enquiries about setting up their own club.
