Ulster Schools Individual Championships

This year’s postponed Individual Championship will be held at the Valley Leisure Centre on Thursday 28 January.  There are expected to be over 150 entries, and some will be fighting to retain their titles.  Paul McCreery will be a favourite to win the Under 19 boys event for the second time, but Ashley Robinson will be pushing him hard.  Stephen Slater should take the Under 16 title, and Neil Irwin the Under 14 event, though last year’s Under 12 winner, Jamie Fawcett, will be trying to ensure that this does not happen.  In the Under 12 event, last year’s runner up, Andrew Hopkins, is still in this age group, but Jonathan Porter and Mark Gordon will give him a hard run.

The girls’ events are a little more open, but Róisin O’Reilly should be favourite in the Under 19.  The clear favourite in the Under 14 event will be Irish Junior and Cadet No. 1 Ashley Givan with a fight between Annalise Walker and Emma Ludlow for second place. The winner of the Under 12 event could come from Laura Finn and Erin Thompson.

Under 12 and under 14 events begin at 11.00 a.m. and  entry forms can be obtained from Tony Phillips at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).   Entries should be returned by Monday 25 January.
