John Murphy moves as National Coach to Australia

John has very recently informed TTI that he has accepted the position of national coach of Australia from October 1st.
While John had accepted a revised contract as our National Coach recently this Australian offer was an opportunity that he could not realistically refuse.

Over the past week, Sophie Earley from Ormeau Table Tennis club has been representing Ireland at the World Hopes in Alicante, Spain. Sophie qualified for this event by attending the European Hopes challenge in Luxembourg in April. Sophie impressed the ITTF coaches very much and recorded the highest European evaluation which qualified her for the world hopes in Alicante.

The Board of Table Tennis Ireland (TTI) wish to recruit:

National Para High Performance Coach – Fixed Term Appointment             (24 months subject to Funding)

Commencing September 2018

This is a part time position requiring flexible working hours/locations with availability to travel with Para Squads Internationally for competition.

Reporting to TTI Para Director/Manager and working closely with our partners in Paralympic Ireland (PI) and Sport Ireland (SI).

All players should note that any entries made for the original event in March 2018 are still valid and are automatically carried forward in the Go Membership system. Players are advised to check in their profile that this is the case. If any player can no longer play a full refund is also available via the Go Membership system. Players are also advised to check that their original doubles partners are still available.
Any player who did not enter the March 2018 event but who wishes to enter the rearranged event can do so again via the Go Membership System.

DEATH OF AIDAN WALSH, Former Irish International Player

The Irish Association is sad to hear of the tragic death of Aidan Walsh in a motoring accident in England. Aidan, in his early 50s, was one of Ireland’s leading players, having represented his country in a number of international events at both junior and senior levels.
