Irish Senior Classification 2015: Deadline Approaching

The closing date for enties to the first tournament on the Irish domestic calendar is just days away.

The season is set to kick into action later this month as the prestigious Senior Classification takes centre stage on 29/30th August. The closing date for Entries for this event is this Wednesday 19th August. 

The event will begin with the Irish Senior Classification Qualifier, which takes place in DCU, Glasnevin, D9 on Saturday 29th August, followed by  the Irish Senior Classification, which takes place on Sunday 30th August, in UCD Sports Centre, Belfield, D4.  This year, the Events Unit has introduced a number of changes, aimed at improving both the player and spectator experience at the events. These changes include ;

-          The Classification Event will consist of 16 men and 8 women;

-         The number of pre-qualified players is reduced to 10 and 5 for men and women respectively, which means that there will be at least 6 men and 3 women qualifying from the Qualifier;

-          There will be no substitution i.e if pre-qualified players are unable to compete, additional players will qualify from the Qualifier Event;

-          The Classification Event will change from the previous round-robin to group format i.e 4x4 (2x4 for women) with semi and finals.
